When you join Ecotricity, you aren’t just joining a utility provider; you are joining a green revolution. Founded in 1995 as the world’s first green energy company, Ecotricity was born from a mission to change how energy is made and used in Britain. Our founder, Dale Vince, pioneered the concept of “Turning Bills into Mills”—taking the money from customers’ energy bills and reinvesting it into building windmills, sun parks, and green gasmills.
Our impact extends far beyond the grid. From supporting Forest Green Rovers (the world’s greenest football club) to launching EcoTalk, our mobile service dedicated to protecting Britain’s rainforests, we are a business driven by sustainability. As an Accounts Assistant in our New Ventures team, you will be at the heart of this mission, ensuring the financial integrity of the projects that fund a greener future for the planet.

The New Ventures division is the experimental and growth-focused arm of Ecotricity. We are looking for a diligent and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our Transactional Finance team. This is a varied role where no two days are identical. While the core of the role involves high-volume processing, the true value lies in your ability to build stakeholder relationships and ensure that our “Green New Ventures” operate with financial precision.
This position is a Hybrid role, offering the perfect balance between remote focus and team collaboration. You will be required to spend at least one day per week at our head office in Stroud, with increased on-site presence during the critical month-end and month-start periods.
This is a Part-time role designed for someone who values a structured yet flexible work week:
Schedule: 22.5 hours per week.
Days: Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Salary: Up to £26,000 per annum (Pro Rata).
Note: The pro rata calculation is based on our full-time equivalent of 36.5 hours. This means your actual take-home pay will reflect the 22.5 hours worked, providing a competitive hourly rate for the Gloucestershire region.

Your role is essential to the smooth running of the New Ventures ledger. Your duties will include:
Invoice Management: Processing a high volume of invoices and credit notes with total accuracy.
Payment Recording: Documenting supplier payments and customer receipts to maintain a real-time view of cash flow.
Account Reconciliations: Performing deep-dive reconciliations for both supplier and customer accounts, as well as monthly bank statement reconciliations.
Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as a bridge between the Management Accountants and external vendors to resolve queries and ensure payments are made on time.
Systems & Admin: Using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for data entry, while managing general office tasks like mail processing and filing.
We are looking for a Team Player who shares our environmental values. The ideal candidate will possess:
Previous Experience: A background in a similar finance or bookkeeping role is highly desired.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables) and Business Central (or similar ERP systems like SAP or Xero).
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills are required for liaising with various departments and external stakeholders.
Resilience: The ability to work under pressure and meet the tight deadlines associated with the monthly finance cycle.

Stroud is frequently cited as one of the best places to live in the UK, and for good reason.
The Green Hub: Stroud is the spiritual home of the UK’s environmental movement. Working here places you among like-minded individuals and innovative businesses.
Connectivity: Our head office is easily accessible for those living in Gloucester, Cheltenham, or Bristol. We encourage car-pooling and provide on-site parking for those days you are in the office.
Lifestyle: From the award-winning farmers’ market to the beautiful Cotswold Way, Stroud offers a high quality of life that complements our hybrid working model perfectly.
At Ecotricity, we treat our staff as valued members of the green revolution. Our benefits package includes:
Generous Pension: A company contribution that helps you plan for a secure future.
Health & Life: Access to a Healthcare plan and Life Assurance.
Volunteering Day: We give you a paid day off every year to volunteer for a cause you care about.
Sustainable Travel: Access to the Cycle to Work scheme, electric vehicle charging, and car-pooling initiatives.
Lifestyle Discounts: Significant savings on shops, gyms, and events through our employee portal.

Finance at Ecotricity is a gateway to a long-term career in Sustainability Finance.
Step 1: Accounts Assistant: Master the transactional fundamentals and the Business Central ecosystem.
Step 2: Assistant Management Accountant: Begin taking on more responsibility for reporting and analysis.
Step 3: Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner: Influence the strategic direction of our New Ventures.
Note: The initial advertising period for this role ended on 12 Jan 2026. However, Ecotricity frequently looks for talented finance professionals as we expand our New Ventures portfolio.
